My second trip to Hong Kong
Went back to Hong Kong to visit Crystine, which was well, well worth it. I'm so glad I was able to see her. It seems like it has been forever. I left on Thursday afternoon Central US time, and arrived in Hong Kong friday night at 10:30 HK time. I got off the plane, and walked/ran all the way to customs. I just wanted to get out of the terminal. I was in such a hurry to get out of there to see the girl I came for waiting on the other side of the doors. I went through customs pretty quickly and then got to the luggage carousel. Waited about 10 minutes there, saw my bag, and walked as fast as I could. There she was when I walked out of the glass doors. Standing along the railing, looking so wonderful. We both were so shocked. I couldn't believe I was there, and she couldn't believe I came back. She couldn't even wait for me to get out of the main walkway, and she ran out into it and hugged me. It was such a wonderful feeling. Seeing her was something almost unreal. I poked her a bit, and she poked me too, just to see if we were real. It seemed like a dream. We then just kind of walked around and then went to the bus stop and caught a bus home to Mei Foo. The whole bus ride back, we talked and just took in the moment. Was so great. Such an amzing feeling holding her hand, and having her head on my shoulder. I loved it. We both were so happy. Can't even describe the feeling. Just unreal. We then got to the bus terminal in Mei Foo and walked into the center shopping area. We stopped at a congee place and Crystine ordered some congee. We took it home and then she ate it while I ate my leftover sub from Subway that I bought before boarding the airplane. After our late dinner, went and took showers, then went to bed. Such a wonderful feeling being with her. Just amazing.
The week was wonderful. Saturday went shopping and to a concert, Anthony Wong. Was pretty good, but we both were too tired. Sunday we went across the border to Shenzhen for lunch with Crystine's family. It was very nice to meet her mom, dad, brother and sister, and also her brothers girlfriend. Everyone was extremely nice and funny. Her mom suprised me a few times by asking Demi, Crystine's sister, how to say things in english, and then later her mom would say it to me. One time she told me to "eat more". So cute and funny. After lunch, we said bye to her mom, dad, brother(Jacky) and Wendy, and then went with Demi shopping at some other places. We first went to Starbuck's and ordered something to drink while we waited for Demi's boyfriend, Arron. We drank our coffee and talked, and then were told where to go shopping for cheap things. We went to this market and bought some pretty cool things. It soon started raining really hard, and then once it let up, we went out to go to the other place we had gone shopping before to look for a suitcase for my mom. A short metro ride later, we went out into the streets and shopping. Got the suitcase, bought some DVD's, some snacks, and then went back to the border to buy one more thing at the big shopping mall there. Got the jacket for my sister, then went back home to Hong Kong. Such a nice feeling to go back. Always feels so good. I know Crystine loves going back. Exhausted, we went home and went to bed. Crystine has class the next day, and I will meet her later for Dim Sum. The rest of the week was very similar. Went to Disneyland on Wednesday, which was very nice. So much fun to be with Crystine, all the time. Thursday met with a guy from 3M Hong Kong, and found out that 3M in Hong Kong is all marketing and sales. No engineers needed. Oh well. I then met crystine on her way to school, and then waited around while she attended her classes. We ate lunch right when we got to school, then she went off to class, and I read my book. Later, after her classes, we went to the library to study, because Crystine had an exam on Friday. We then went home once again, and went to bed. Friday was fun, just took it easy after her exam. Went shopping and walking around and just hung out. Saturday we went to a show, Around the World in 80 Days. Very good. Was pretty funny, although it was hard for Crystine since there weren't any subtitles. She enjoyed it also. After the show, we met up with mason and some of his friends and sister and her husband, and went to a bar. We ate some dinner, and had a f ew drinks, then went home to sleep and spend the last few hours together before my flight on Sunday at 8:50am. After a somewhat scary morning, didn't wake up quite on time, we got to the airport, went to McDonald's, had some breakfast, and then had to say goodbye once again. Was very said, and I wished that I didn't have to leave. I wish spring break was two weeks long. I wish so many things, but I will soon see Crystine again. I hope this summer works for her coming to visit me, otherwise I will go and watch her walk across the stage in September. I can't wait for the next time I get to hold her hand, and let her fall asleep on my shoulder. So many wonderful feelings. So many. I miss you sweetie, so much.
Take care all, especially you sweetie,
Yours always,

Another blog, yay
After waking up, went onto the computer again, and saw that my new greatest friend Crystine was online. Talked with her for awhile, and worked out the plans for the night. We had made plans in class to see the new movie, Perhaps Love, since it was being released today in Hong Kong. We weren't doing anything early in the afternoon, so decided to just go out then. We met in Prince Edward and walked around for awhile. Was so much fun!! It was very beautiful out and was walking with someone even more beautiful. We had a great time, just walking around, through all the small shops and stands, and every once in awhile Crystine would go into a shop. No luck for her though, didn't find anything good. We talked and talked and talked, and walked and walked and walked some more. It was so nice and simple, just to get off campus and spend it with someone so great. Eventually, we walked all the way to Mongkok, we met in Prince Edward, and went into the Langham Plaza to find the movie theater to buy the tickets for the movies. Here in Hong Kong, you buy your reserved seat, which is pretty cool since it would curb the sneaking in and whatever else goes on in movie theaters. Found the theater, and got to the ticket counter, and almost all the seats were sold out. Quite impressive. I think I've only had that happen once before. Anyway, got front row seats!! Might have been good too since I forgot my glasses and I have to read the subtitles. Reading and watching a musical, that takes some talent!! The songs where there's so much action going on, and they're singing so fast, so you're trying to read while also watch the excitement from the actors and actresses. It worked though, and got better at it towards the end(cause I realized that in a lot of the songs, they repeat the same things over and over, thus making it not necessary to read). So anyway, got the tickets then just had some time to kill so went walking around the mall and talking a whole lot more. So much fun!! I don't think I've ever talked to somone so much and had the greatest time in my life. No idea what's going on?? haha Anyway, got closer to the movie time so we went back up to the theater and waited til they let us in. Watched the movie, quite great!!! Was a musical that was said to be mixed between Moulin Rouge and Chicago. It seemed a lot more like Moulin Rouge than Chicago, but it was amazing. Liked it a lot. Got a little confused, but confusion in movies, as long as you figure it out in the end, is good. After the movie, we both were a bit hungry. We saw a sushi bar downstairs and had decided that would be a good/new thing for me to try. And, she was right. It was very good, except for one of the things, kind of made me choke. After having some great sushi, we walked outside for a bit and found a dessert restaurant. Was very, very good. They feature Mangoes for everything. Was excellent, and once again, spending it with Crystine was quite the prize. Oh, and before that, we went and had some pictures taken, lots of fun, and turned out great too!!!! Thank you Crystine for such a great and wonderful night. Will remember this Birthday eve for a long, long time. Thanks again. Take care all, and post some comments. Here's one of the good pics we took during the night. So pretty!!!

Beautiful, just beautiful!!
Time for sleep, goodnight!!

Long, Long, Long time, and no post, sorry.....
Just got back from Beijing for the weekend yesterday. Had a blast!! Went with four other friends from here in Hong Kong, Judith, Nancy, Serena and Sungi. Weird to say, but I've now seen the great wall three times within the last four years. I sure am a lucky guy. Will be going back to northern China in January to visit Nick at nankai university in Tianjin. Also, most likely will stop by and see my friends at the hongqiao market. yay!!! They're really funny to hang out with, and would be fun to see them again. I will post some pictures on yahoo from Beijing. I only took 22 pictures in total, but will post some of my friends too so you can see what I've been up to. Saw a couple new things, and also some old things, but just the complete thing. After the Great Wall in the morning on Friday, we went to see one of the Ming Tombs, Emperor Ding's tomb to be specific. Was pretty cool how they found the tomb. Just accidentally discovered it one day while digging. After the long drive back to the city, we had dinner, then went clubbing!! I don't like clubbing too much, but had a good time. That was also a first for me in Beijing, and had a wonderful time. Also that night, I saw snow for the first time this year!! Kind of makes me excited to go back to Minnesota just for the snow!! The windy cold weather though makes me think differently. Talking about windy and cold, Beijing sure wasn't the hot sunny weather that I had last summer. Tianamen square walking across it was quite chilly. Luckily I had bought my nice fake north face jacket, so that kept me warm. I just wished that I had some nice gloves, but oh well. I still have all my fingers!! On Saturday, went to Tianamen square and then to the Forbidden City. We walked completely through it, which I also believe was a first for me, or maybe I just don't remember it from the first time I went to Beijing. There's a really big garden at the end of the city, which was very beautiful, even in the freezing cold. After the forbidden city, we went and ate lunch at a Peking Duck place, which was very, very good. I think since the last time I had it, my tastes have all changed, so I loved it this time (unlike the first time, didn't care for it too much). After duck, we went across the street to the Temple of heaven. I think it's easily my favorite place in Beijing. It's just a prime example of the culture of the city. Even in the bitter cold, many older Beijing residents were in the park, singing, playing cards, chess, Chinese checkers, the sort of hacky sack with a feathered object, and many other things. Just so amazing. Not only cause it was so cold, but every time I've been there, there are always people there. It's such a culture shock. We would rarely see that in the US. Most people that age are either sitting at home, watching television, or already in a nursing home. There are some elders in the US that are still very active, and I know my family is that particularly. Just, so amazing still. After walking around a bit inside the Temple grounds, (seeing many new things that I never noticed before), we went back to Hongqiao market to see my friends and buy more things!! I'm not a gigantic fan of shopping, but in Beijing, I go crazy!! Hahaha. Oh well, I don't shop much, so maybe I'm just releasing all my non-shopping build up at this awesome market. After shopping til the place closed at 7 (which seems so early), we went to this night market right near the Peninsula Palace hotel that I stayed at the other two times to Beijing. This time for some reason, I was a lot more open to eating the market food. Hmmmm, wonder why??? It was really good, although it was soooo cold, and was a bit hungry, so maybe it wasn't?? nah, don't think so. And again, made a large impact on the locals there. I had bought my jackets already, so was carrying them in this big body bag on my back, and one of the vendors saw the gigantic bag and was commenting on how it looked like I had an actual body in the bag. He then came out from behind the stand, and tried sneaking up on me to pull the bag down or something. Not sure what he was doing, maybe checking to see if there was really a body in there. Also, on the way back through, he made some lewd comment about his fried banana balls, and then also pointing at me. It was quite funny, because I couldn't figure out what he was trying to say for a minute or so. We then laughed and just walked off. After walking back to the top of the street, we hailed some cabs, and went to this hot pot place that Sungi's cousin who's studying in Beijing, had recommended. Was good, but I'm not too crazy about hot pot. Anyways, was fun meeting his cousin and her friends. After a good meal, we were exhausted and cold, so just went back to the hotel. Stayed up for a bit, then passed out. Woke up Sunday morning, a little later than expected, and took off to find the hutong. We went to Behai park, and walked around. Was soooooo cold. The wind was coming right off the lake and hitting everyone in it's path. I think it was windier sometimes than it ever is in Minnesota, coming right off the river and through the big buildings. It was really nice and peaceful though. Will have to go back there sometime, maybe in the Fall or Spring when the trees are in bloom or turning colors. Anyway, walked around the park, then went looking for this popular lamb place. Couldn't find it, so went back to the hotel, got our bags, and left for the airport. Went through customs, checked in, got a bite to eat, then got on board the plane. After a short delay, were on our way back to Hong Kong. Such a great time in Beijing once again. Can't wait to go back in January and to also see Tianjin. Will be a lot of fun.
Can't believe that my bday is coming up. Only a few more days and I turn the big 21!! Hmmm, feels strange. After my bday, once again, finals are upon us all. Studying is starting, and so is the worrying. I hope I pass all of the classes. The students here study so hard, it's weird. Oh well, back to the U of M next semester, to normal classes. Should be a nice feeling, but will really miss Hong Kong. Hopefully my friends I've made here can visit sometime, or I can come back to visit them. Would be nice to see them once again after I leave.
On another note, can't wait to get back to my own bedroom. My roommate is starting to drive me crazy, hahaha. He's really loud, and his brother who sometimes comes into the room too, is even louder. Oh well, only a little while longer. He's really nice, just loud. Also, he always likes the window open or AC on. Earlier this year, when it was somewhat warm out, he'd turn the AC on. I grew up never using the AC and the house doesn't have AC, so quite strange for me. Oh well. It's colder now in Hong Kong too. Very, very windy being here on the ocean, but not so cold you need a winter jacket. At least not for me(all the locals have theirs out). Wonder what they'd all be like up in Beijing where it's below freezing!! hahahaa. Can't imagine!! I'm starting to ramble now, so maybe time to quit writing. Again, will post some pics on Yahoo, so check that out. Hope everyone is doing well back home and see you soon!! Enjoy the holiday season if I don't talk to you individually. Take care!

I'm not sure of an appropriate title????
Anyway, I have been playing a lot of badminton, but had to stop the running for awhile since my knee was acting up a bit. I just think it's cause of my large body that it supports, but figured it could be from the running, thus stopped it to see if it would help. The badminton might not be good for it either, but I like playing too much, and need to improve in order to beat Yana back home, hahahaha. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but I play every Thursday with my roomate and his brother, and just recently another guy from across the hall. So, we've been able to change it up a little bit and play some doubles too. It's quite different than just singles. Not as much of a workout. I don't have much planned this weekend, but should be nice and relaxing. Was gonna go with some friends to a Halloween Bash at Ocean Park, but my one friend has to attend a Friday night class, thus not being able to go. So, instead, maybe will just go cook some of the food that I have left from last weekends BBQ, or go out on the town. Who knows, only the night will tell.
So, has everyone been worrying/hearing about the Bird Flu spreading around the world? I hope you have, cause if you haven't, then you should watch the news. News has been all over here in Hong Kong, since they just had a bad epidemic of this in 1997, some people are very worried. Everyone is buying up the medicine, and the companies are having shortages, or are already out. I'm not actually informed completely on this flu, but know that the only way so far it can be transmitted is by direct contact with a sick bird or by eating some bad poultry. So, just make sure everything is cooked, and don't go petting any birds or holding them, etc. I'm not too worried, but not completely ignoring it, so don't fret all of you back home. Just do everything to try and keep it out of the U.S. We don't need to lose any birds to this nasty, nasty virus.
Okay, and now to the part that caused me to stay up this late and write. I finally was able to get a hold of a copy of Crash, the recent movie with Don Cheadle and Sandra Bullock. Such a brilliantly made movie. I was speechless after the movie, not knowing what to say, or how to react. It just took my breath away, simple to say, just like that. Is life this bad? I know there are bad people out there, but do they eventually realize who they are and how they act just like in this movie? It's amazing how such a small world it is, and how all of these people were all connected in one way or another, especially in a city as large as Los Angeles. How come life is like this? Why do people hate? Like Sandra Bullock's character said, "I've always been mad". Wouldn't it be nice if we all lived in a world without hate and violence. But, we do not, and that's what makes every day of our lives interesting. Every single day is different from the last. So, and psychology majors want to help me out here? If you havne't seen this movie, I completely recommend it. I think it has became a favorite on my very small list of movies that I really love. Anyway, watch this movie. It's good, and worth the money and time that you will spend.
Post comments all, and talk to you later. Take care.

Very interesting and wonderful night....
Lingqing and me

Hong Kong Island, was a bit foggy

Another of Lingqing and me, forgot to turn the flash off

So, first, the wonderful. A couple weeks ago I met this girl playing badminton at the weekly badminton club meeting. We played a couple matches together, and then exchanged msn screenames. We've been getting together every once in awhile mostly to play badminton, but last week also saw a movie here on campus hosted by the Film Society (the movie was A Moment To Remember, Korean drama). Had a fun time, and have continued playing badminton together. A couple nights ago I thought of doing something special with her, maybe if she wanted to, cause she's been in Hong Kong only as long as I have. I asked her if she had been to the peak(HK's highest point) yet, and she had said no. So, I asked her to go with me, since I hadn't been either. We also decided to eat at a Japanese noodle restaurant, the same place Sing Sing and Mei Ling had brought me to awhile ago. So, we headed out from UST at 5, went to Hang Hau first, caught the MTR to Causeway Bay, and went to the noodle restaurant. Had a good meal there, then left headed towards the Peak and Central. Walked a bit out of central towards the tram to the peak. I had a small map, but as always, the maps are easier to read than when actually trying to find the streets and whatnot. We successfully got to the tram station, and rode up to the peak. These pictures are from the top of the Peak looking down on Hong Kong Island. After checking out the outside of the scenic view area, we walked around the shops for a bit in the small mall. This is where the night got interesting.
We stopped in a small shop with what appeared to be Indian crafts and clothes. Lingqing, the girl I went with, wondered where all of it was from, so I asked the worker in the store where the clothes were from and where he was from, since it appeared to be around the same place. He said he was from Kashmir India, and then asked where I was from along with Lingqing. I replied for me and then her too. After me telling him I was from the United States, he instantly began rambling on about how the United States is a superpower and that "I" want to control everything(he was telling this all to Lingqing who just gave him a weird look, not really knowing what he was saying). I butted in saying that it's not me who wants to take over the world, it's the crazy leader of the US, President Bush. He calmed down a bit, but then continued on saying things about how the US has screwed up so many times like during the cold war when the US funded the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden and the rest of his gang to fight the Soviets. But now, they are the ones that are fighting the US and killing many thousands of people. I just kept nodding my head, saying it was a big mistake, and we were stupid(this guy seemed crazy, i wasn't about to start a fight with him). As he was saying all this, I was sort of pushing Lingqing out and moving out myself. It wasn't until he was about to start on the crap in Iraq that I said I had to go, and that I dislike the current president myself, that I was able to escape the crazy man from India. Later Lingqing asked what that was all about, and I explained, or tried to explain most of what he was saying, but I don't think I did a very good job. She speaks great English(not what she thinks), but the whole history is just a little complex. Even I don't understand a lot of what happened during those years.
Anyway, I had a wonderful night. Was great spending some time with my new friend, and I believe she felt the same too. Had some great conversations and learned a lot about each other in only a few hours. Tomorrow morning, or in a few hours, I'm meeting up with her to play some badminton. Should be fun, as long as I wake up, I hope!!!! Gotta get going to bed. Check out my yahoo pictures all. Some from shanghai, and more will be posted soon. Take care, and have a goodnight/day.

Shanghai
Made it home safe from Mainland China. I sure do love Mainland. Shanghai was beautiful, a lot different than when I went last summer. Saw many different things than last time, so that's probably why I now like the city. Also visited three other cities around Shanghai; Hangzhou, Wuxi, and Suzhou. I posted a few pics on Yahoo, so enjoy. Will post a lot more, just wanted to get something up for people to look at. Off to bed. Goodnight.

Taiwan
This weekend was pretty fun, even though not much happened at all. The typhoon hit Hong Kong Saturday, and it's been raining off and on since then. That means everyone is inside. Everyone!! The malls were packed, and even on campus, all the dining areas were a mess. On Friday night I went with Judith to see The Myth, the new movie with Jackie Chan. It was great!! Most people i've talked to also said they loved it, although some said it was bad. Anyway, I don't think it will matter, cause I doubt it will be able to be seen in the US, or at least the midwest. This weekend should be fun. There's some sort of big fireworks show on Saturday at Victoria Harbour, so will probably head down there. A friend mentioned something about hiking somewhere saturday to see the fireworks from a remote location. That would be fun too. Not sure, but should be fun no matter what happens. Again, hope to post some pictures soon, otherwise maybe i'll just have to start a different website with pics. Talk to you all later, and feel free to email me or leave a comment, it's fun to hear from everyone.
