First day adventures

random note, some pictures of the campus views:

So, after falling to sleep on a bare mattress with the small airplane pillow, I woke up only four hours later, and couldn't fall back asleep. Decided to clean my room cause it was a mess. Apparently there were students staying in the rooms during the summer, and just moved out a day or two before. After cleaning the room, I decided to check out the campus. I didn't realize though, that it is a big mountain/hill, and i didn't know where the elevators are to get up to the top. So, I hiked it, and it was warm. Humidity is awful, almost worse than the midwest. After roaming around the campus and not knowing what time it was(watch broke when setting it the night before), I headed back to the dorms. After lounging around, got up and headed to a hall orientation meeting. Pretty boring, but met some good friends already. Most of them are from NYU and a couple from CA. After the meeting, we headed out on the town. We went to Mong Kok, and wow, just like the movies. People everywhere, shops everywhere. Just amazing!! After many hours of shopping, we found a restaurant and ordered a lot of food. Know one was quite sure completely what we were getting, but it was great!!! 9 or 10 course meal, drinks for 12 and food for that many too. There were only 9 of us however, so we tried our best. Some of the things were steamed shrimp, fish roll type things with a cocunut/mayonaise sauce on top(amazing!!!!), fish(the whole fish), chicken(the whole chicken too), shark fin soup(mmmmmm, good), bok choi with scallops, bok choi with alberone(or something like that, not so good), another dish or two I can't remember and then fruit at the end. Very good meal, for a pretty good price, only 13 U.S. dollars or so, and we all left there stuffed. Walked back around on the streets for a bit, then caught the MTR(train) and headed for home. That was my first day in Hong Kong, and it was great!!! Talk to you later.

-Bill
